Where Friendly Debt Relief is available.
Service availability varies by state based on provider licensing and local consumer protection laws.
How state availability works
Debt settlement is regulated at both the federal and state level. Some states require debt settlement providers to hold specific licenses. A few states restrict or prohibit debt settlement altogether. The providers in our network serve different subsets of states based on their licensing footprint.
When you submit an eligibility check, we automatically filter out providers who do not serve your state. If none of our network providers serve your state, we will let you know upfront rather than waste your time.
Currently available states
Our network is in active expansion. State-by-state availability is finalized as each provider onboards. The eligibility check on our site will tell you instantly whether service is available in your state.
Check my state nowGenerally restricted states
The following states place significant restrictions on debt settlement. Consumers in these states may have limited or no access to debt settlement programs through any provider, regardless of network:
If you reside in one of these states, we will explain your alternative options during the eligibility check. These commonly include credit counseling, debt management plans, or direct creditor negotiation.
What to do if your state is not covered
If our network cannot match you with a provider in your state:
- Consider nonprofit credit counseling through the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (nfcc.org) or a similar accredited agency.
- Contact your creditors directly to ask about hardship programs.
- If your debt load is severe, consult a bankruptcy attorney about Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 options.
